11-year-old boy linked to rape, murder of girl in children’s home

German officials have completed an investigation into the rape and violent death of a 10-year-old girl in a children’s home in Bavaria five months ago.
An 11-year-old boy who also lived in the home seems to be responsible for her death, police and the public prosecutor’s office said.
However, he cannot be punished for it because of his age.
Charges have also been brought forward against a 25-year-old man who allegedly raped the girl, officials announced on Tuesday.
The man allegedly broke into the children’s home at the beginning of April.
Officials said he happened to meet the girl and raped her before leaving the facility again.
“The accused cannot be proven to have been involved in the killing of the 10-year-old girl,” the police and the public prosecutor’s office said.
The investigations suggested that the 11-year-old boy had killed the girl after the 25-year-old had left the home.
It is said there had been a quarrel between the children.
The man had already been remanded in custody at the end of April because of traces found at the crime scene.
According to the police, he has committed several other burglaries since the beginning of 2022.
