A teenage girl, simply identified as Mary (not real name), has accused her biological father of sexually abusing her at their residence in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

The victim alleged that Moses Udoh, her father, always tuned up the volume of the radio anytime he desired to rape her at their apartment located at No 20, Igboniki Street, along LAO in Akure.

She spoke on Friday while appearing before the Akure Division of the Chief Magistrates Court, where she narrated her ordeal.

Appearing before the Akure Division of the Chief Magistrates Court on Friday, the teenage girl alleged that her father had been sexually abusing her since age 10.

She said she decided to speak up about the alleged sexual abuse after her father threatened to kill her if she exposed him shortly after she started feeling discomfort and pain.

â€œMy father had been forcefully having sexual intercourse with me for a long time. He started it when I was 10 years old, and I could not count the number of times he had done it.

“Anytime (her father) was sleeping with me in the night, he would increase the volume of his MP 3 radio so that my voice would not be heard by neighbours around.

“He also instructed me not to tell our neighbours about it and threatened to kill me if I exposed the sexual abuse. When I noticed that blood was coming out of my anus, which is now causing discomfort for me, I decided to tell his sister,” the young girl added.

Earlier, Mr Udoh, 38, was arraigned on a two-count charge of indecent sexual assault of her daughter and threat to life contrary to the law of the state.

Police Prosecutor in the case, Taiwo Oniyere, told the court that Mr Udoh committed the offence on November 26, 2024, at 10.20 PM, at his residence.

Mr Oniyere said Mr Udoh forcefully had sexual intercourse with his biological daughter, which caused the victim harm.

He also added that Mr Udoh had threatened to kill the victim if she dared tell anyone about his escapade.

He added that the accused committed an offence which contravened Sections 25 (a) and 86 (2) of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of 2021.

However, the accused’s plea was not taken.

Mr Oniyere urged the court to remand the Udoh to the correctional centre at Olukuta, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

In her ruling, Chief Magistrate Temilola Olusola-Olujobi ordered the remand of the accused in Olokuta Correctional Centre.

The Magistrates subsequently ordered the transfer of the case to the Family Court due to the age of the victim and immediately adjourned the trial to December 10, 2024.
