At least 14 people, including the pilot, were reportedly killed on Monday after a Cessna aircraft crashed on the outskirts of Juba, South Sudan.

According to multiple reports, two of those on board were Kenyan nationals, while the others were South Sudanese.

South Sudan’s civil aviation authority said preliminary findings suggest the aircraft may have crashed due to poor visibility caused by adverse weather conditions.

The agency said a team had been deployed to the crash site, about 20 kilometres outside Juba, to gather details and assist emergency responders.

Videos circulating on social media showed the wreckage of the aircraft engulfed in flames, with the surrounding area appearing mountainous and misty.
