The police command in Gombe on Tuesday confirmed the death of a 15-year-old girl, Aisha, in the Kwami community while on an errand.

The confirmation followed a viral video showing the girl’s body found in a hole near Wakili and Tuguji villages in Kwami LGA.

Police spokesman Buhari Abdullahi said in a statement that Miss Aisha was sent to buy soybeans on Monday evening but never returned home.

“The report was made by her father, Malam Abubakar, around 12:00 noon on Tuesday,” Abdullahi told journalists in Gombe.

“According to the report, she was sent to buy soybeans at about 5:40 p.m. on Monday and did not return.

“Unfortunately, her lifeless body was discovered in a bush on the outskirts of the village today,” Mr Abdullahi explained.

He said detectives visited and photographed the scene, noting visible signs of violence and mutilation on parts of the body.

Mr Abdullahi said the corpse was evacuated to the hospital for medical examination.

He added that investigations were ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible.
