Isaac Idahosa, the vice-presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), says Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party’s presidential flag bearer is the best among politicians contesting to be Nigeria’s next president.

Among the presidential contenders are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, APC national leader Bola Tinubu and ex-Governor Peter Obi of Anambra (Labour Party).

In a statement on Tuesday, Mr Idahosa described Mr Kwankwaso as the best candidate to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

He said the ex-Kano governor “stands tall in the contests to govern the country, and the candidate is by far the most experienced among all contenders for the country’s most exalted sit.”

According to him, the Kwankwaso/Idahosa ticket has the best credential to fix the country’s challenges and address the infrastructure and resource control issues.

“Therefore, you can be rest assured that as a president, he will galvanise and recruit the best brains from home and abroad to turn the country’s economy around,” explained the NNPP presidential running mate.

He added, “As governor, he met at least $200 (million) debt from his predecessor, and ensured he paid off all debts and did not borrow a dime in spite of the numerous legacy projects he carried out in Kano state.”

Mr Idahosa also mentioned the ex-governor would ensure human capital development and education would also be revamped under his administration, adding if Mr Kwankwaso was elected as president he would also ensure accountability and carry out audits of the federal government’s coffers.
