2026 World Cup: Morocco beat Haiti 4-2, Brazil thrash Scotland

Morocco sealed their qualification to the round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday by coming back twice to defeat Haiti 4-2 in their final Group C match at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Haiti, already knocked out of the tournament, opened scoring in the 10th minute, with Lenny Joseph’s skillful tap-in, although it was later ruled as an own goal by Morocco’s goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.
Achraf Hakimi bundled the ball in to level things for the African side in the 39th minute, but a thunderbolt strike by Wilson Isidor restored the Caribbean country’s lead in the 43rd minute, before Ismael Saibari restored parity again for Morocco, just before half-time.
However, it was all Morocco in the second half. Soufine Rahimi put the 2022 semi-finalists in front for the first time in the match in the 78th minute, while in the 89th minute, Gesime Yassine scored his first international goal to make it four and secure all three points.
In the group’s other final game, played at the same time at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida, the Samba Boys of Brazil beat Scotland 3-0 to also book their spot in the round of 32.
Vinicius Junior scored a brace in the first half, one goal in the seventh minute and the second just before half-time, before Matheus Cunha made it three in the second half.
Vinicius has become the fifth Brazilian player to score in each of the three group-stage games in a World Cup, joining legends Jairzinho (1970) and Romário (1994), as well as Ronaldo and Rivaldo, both in 2002.
Brazil ended top of the group with seven points, the same as second-placed Morocco, but on goal difference, while Scotland will hope the results of the third preliminary matches in other groups favour them, so they can secure a spot in the round of 32 as one of the best third-placed teams.
