2027 Elections: Gov Sule assures APC governorship aspirants of free, fair primaries

Governor Abdullahi Sule has assured party faithful and aspirants of the All Progressives Congress that the party will conduct free and fair governorship primaries ahead of the 2027 elections.
Mr Sule gave the assurance on Tuesday during an APC stakeholders’ meeting held at Government House, Lafia. He said credible primaries would strengthen the party’s chances of victory in the next general elections by ensuring the emergence of the most widely accepted candidate.
“I came in through free and fair primaries, and by the grace of God, I will also conduct free and fair primaries. There is no need for anyone to raise tension unnecessarily; the process will be transparent,” the governor said.
He added that his priority was to see a successor who would surpass his achievements and sustain the APC’s leadership in the state.
“I want to hand over to another APC governor in 2027; that is my prayer,” he stated.
Mr Sule also appreciated party executives and stakeholders for their support during the party’s recent e-registration exercise and mega rally in the state.
Former Governor Umar Al-Makura commended Mr Sule and party leaders for convening the meeting, describing it as a step toward strengthening unity and progress within the party.
Mr Al-Makura urged stakeholders to remain committed to teamwork and democratic principles to ensure victory in 2027.
Speaker of the Nasarawa House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, praised the governor’s performance, noting that recent defections of seven lawmakers to the APC had given the party a two-thirds majority in the parliament.
He pledged continued legislative support and cooperation with the executive arm for effective governance.
