2027: Loyalty to Tinubu, APC non-negotiable, says Ondo reconciliation committee

The All Progressives Congress (APC) reconciliation committee in Ondo State has warned members against engaging in anti-party activities.
The committee said loyalty to the party and its candidates, including President Bola Tinubu, is non-negotiable.
Dele Olanubi, the committee secretary, said in a statement on Sunday in Akure that members who left the APC to contest elective offices on other parties’ platforms had forfeited their membership.
It said such persons could no longer claim any relationship or residual affiliation with the APC.
The committee, chaired by Biyi Poroye, also warned members against attending meetings or consulting with politicians who had left the party to contest elections on other platforms.
According to the committee, such actions breach party discipline and undermine ongoing efforts to reconcile members and strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Loyalty must be total. Support for candidates flying the party’s flag is non-negotiable,” the committee said.
It added that no member could justify supporting Mr Tinubu while working against APC candidates at other levels.
The committee said members found engaging in anti-party activities would lose privileges and recognition associated with membership, adding that serious cases would attract sanctions, including expulsion.
It said the reconciliation committee met with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as part of efforts to resolve outstanding issues and foster unity within the party.
According to the committee, Mr Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his commitment to the progressives political family.
The governor was quoted as saying that he has remained within the progressives fold from the era of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to the emergence of the APC.
The committee said Mr Aiyedatiwa also pledged not to join or support another political party or any individual who left the APC to contest an election on another platform.
The committee assured APC members across the state that it would address outstanding issues within the party fairly and urgently.
The committee appealed to party members to avoid actions capable of creating further divisions, stressing that the party’s interest must take precedence over individual ambitions.
“The APC is greater than any individual ambition. Discipline, loyalty and fidelity to the party’s candidates remain the only acceptable path,” it said.
