A self-confessed hired assassin, simply identified as Shawarma, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s reelection bid in the forthcoming presidential election.

In a viral video watched by Peoples Gazette on Tuesday, Shawarma claimed to have killed over 32 people in Ibadan.

“When they wanted to misbehave in Ibadan, I killed 32,” the self-confessed serial killer said when asked about the number of people he had assassinated.

Shawarma, who stated that the security agencies freed and commended him for killing the people, declared support for Mr Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.

“Even the police and soldiers freed me and told me I tried. President Tinubu will win the 2027 election,” he added.

The development came days after the popular Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday “Igboho” Adeyemo, warned presidential aspirants Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar against campaigning in the South-West ahead of the 2027 election, and vowed to ensure Mr Tinubu got a third term.

Meanwhile, the Oyo Police Command said it has no record of Shawarma being arrested by the security operatives at any point.

However, the police spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said in a statement sent to The Gazette on Tuesday that an investigation had been launched to ascertain the veracity of the allegations and confessional statements in the video.

“As a responsible and responsive agency, the command has launched a thorough investigation into the allegations and the confessional statements contained in the video.

“The investigation is being conducted leveraging advanced technology, including digital forensics and digital footprint analysis, to ensure a robust and credible outcome,” the statement said.

The command further appealed to members of the public for information on the identification and arrest of Shawarma or his accomplices. It assured the public of updates in due course.
