215 land disputes, civil cases recorded in Adamawa in nine months: NSCDC

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Adamawa recorded 215 disputes and civil cases between January and September 2024.
The corps said it had also resolved 189 of the cases.
ACC Charity Fwa, the head of the NDCDC’s peace and conflict unit, stated this on Tuesday in Yola at an event commemorating the 2024 International Peace Day organised by a group, Search for Common Ground.
She said 13 cases were pending, nine were referred for investigations, and four were withdrawn after being resolved by the parties to the disputes.
Ms Fwa said the success recorded fostered peace in the state with the organisation’s support.
“The nature of cases being handled are mainly civil, which includes family matters, communal, land-related disputes, landlords/tenants misunderstanding and farmers/herders conflicts among others,” she said.
Ms Fwa further called for synergy and collaboration with other stakeholders on peace-building in the state.
Gambo Wada, the project manager, Search for Common Ground in Adamawa, commended stakeholders for their contributions to ensuring state peace.
He urged residents to sustain relative peace in their respective communities as the project would end in December.
According to him, the project plans to set up a situation room in all the local government areas to promote peace in the state.
