The federal government has repatriated 384 Nigerians stranded in Saudi Arabia.

They arrived on Thursday at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.

They include 300 males, 83 females, and one infant, Peoples Gazette learnt.

According to Channels TV, the returnees arrived through Air Flight B773 at 1:10 pm. Government officials received them.

A statement from the country’s foreign ministry said 802 Nigerians would return to return on Thursday, and Friday, Peoples Gazette reported.

The Gazette learnt that the decision to evacuate the Nigerians from Saudi Arabia was triggered by a video on social media, showing Nigerians cover their bodies with polythene bags, calling for help.

In 2000 and 2008, over 10,000 Nigerians drowned in an attempt to migrate to Europe.
