It was ‘tough’ to discover I was an adopted child: Joke Silva
Top-notch Nollywood actress, Joke Silva, has opened up on the tough feelings she battled with, after discovering that she was an adopted child.
Silva who spoke in an interview with media personality, Funmi Iyanda, said it was a secret adoption and she only got to know at the age of 10.
Narrating the experience, the veteran actress said she found her adoption certificate, while she searched for her passport as her aunt wanted them to travel together to Kenya.
The 59-year-old veteran actor said it was tough to have found out at that tender age because “if it was something they wanted to discuss, they would have discussed it with me but there was just nobody to discuss it with,” she said.
“I did not discuss it with them [adopters] for a long time because I realized that there was just something instinctive in me that knew that if it was okay to discuss it, I would have been told about it.”
She, however, added that it got to a point her mother had the discussion with her and even found it easier to share it with her older son.
The role interpreter also said her adoption was done legally through the Red Cross.
