Super Eagles players to face off in the UCL group stages

After Ajax and Napoli were paired in this season’s Champions League group stage, Super Eagles stars Calvin Bassey, and Victor Osimhen will put their national affiliation aside to hustle for club glory.
Bassey joined Ajax this season to play in the Champions League. At the same time, Osimhen will compete again after helping Napoli finish in the top four of the Italian Serie A last season with 14 goals.
Both players will square off over the course of two legs, and they will do so in the same group as Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
As a result of Rangers being placed in the same group, Bassey will also return to Ibrox soon. The 22-year-old made a move from Rangers to Ajax this summer as a result of his standout performances in the Scottish Premiership and Europa League.
Meanwhile, Akinkunmi Amoo’s FC Copenhagen will compete in Group G alongside Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, and Manchester City.
Zaidu Sanusi’s FC Porto was paired with Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, and Club Brugge.
RB Salzburg and Samson Tijani will compete against AC Milan, Chelsea, and Dinamo Zagreb.
Real Madrid, RB Leipzig, and Celtic will compete against Olanrewaju Kayode’s Shaktar Donetsk.
Due to the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, this year’s Champions League group stage begins on September 6 and ends on November 2.
