Troops kill 16 suspected ISWAP members in Borno
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed 16 suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a coordinated counter-terrorism operation in the Tunbunma area of Borno State.
In a statement on Monday, Mohammed Goni, the acting spokesman, said the strike hit key leaders of the fighters in the southern Lake Chad area at about 2:00 a.m. on Monday.
The statement said the operation was conducted using air and ground weapon systems to engage the identified locations.
“Battle Damage Assessment indicates that 16 ISWAP fighters were neutralised across the targeted locations.
“Among those reportedly killed were Abu Zubiru, an Arab national, and two associates, Baana Nglewa and Jindullah Sadiq, alongside other fighters,” he said.
Mr Goni said Abu Saleem, identified as the Wali of Tunbunma, sustained severe injuries, alongside seven others.
