Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has lauded the Eggon people in the state for their peaceful disposition and promised to include them in the scheme of political development.

The governor gave the commendation while delivering his address at the fund-raising of the Eggon Youth Movement, Akwanga branch, at Akwanga Local Government Area.

Mr Sule, represented by Bala John, his aide, described the Eggon people as hardworking and industrious.

“Eggon of Akwanga has contributed a lot to the development of the area and had always seen themselves as one with other ethnic nationalities in the locality.

“I urge you to continue in that spirit and shun politics of sentiments, especially now that the 2023 general elections are approaching,” he said.

Mr Sule said his principle of inclusiveness birthed the appointments given to the people of Eggon extraction.

“The All Progressives Congress (APC) has currently given tickets to two Eggon persons for House of Assembly in Lafia, one in Kokona, two in Nasarawa-Eggon and one senatorial ticket in Nasarawa North Senatorial Zone.

“Eggon people are currently serving as deputy chairmen of Keffi, Lafia, and Kokona local government areas in addition to local government area chairman of Nasarawa-Eggon, among others.”

He promised to provide more infrastructure and better welfare for the people in the remaining period of his first tenure.

The governor urged the people of the state to vote for him again and all the candidates of APC in all positions in the 2023 general elections.

Earlier, Adgizi Anzaku, the association chairman in Akwanga, said that apart from promoting peace and unity among the Eggon and other ethnic groups in the area, “the association is also into humanitarian service and empowerment of the vulnerable.”
