Freed Oyo pupils, teachers reunite with families

The Oyo pupils and teachers, freed after spending nearly two months in captivity, reunited with their families on Tuesday.
Following their release, the victims were taken to the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, where they underwent medical examinations and received psychological support.
Family members of the abducted pupils gathered at the hospital while healthcare workers conducted medical assessments before handing the children over to their parents.
The pupils and teachers were kidnapped on May 15, 2026, when gunmen attacked three schools in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The abducted victims were first received by Seyi Makinde, the state governor, at the government house in Ibadan before being handed over to their families.
The Peoples Gazette had reported that one of the victims, Oyodokun M.O, a mathematics teacher at Community High School, Ahoro Esinele, was shot and beheaded.
