A section of the National Stadium, Surulere, earmarked for the 2022 edition of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) has been renovated by the Lagos government.

This was disclosed by the director general of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Olusegun Runsewe, while thanking Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos for the facelift.

Lagos State will host the 2022 edition of NAFEST from November 7 to 13.

He said the National Stadium, earmarked as the venue for the festival, had been artistically repositioned to host the festival with colourful paintings and artistic works, courtesy of Mr Sanwo-Olu.

Mr Runsewe, who assessed the festival venue alongside the state Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, said it was impressive.

He assured revellers of utmost security throughout the festival.

The NCAC boss said he was working unanimously with Ms Akinbile-Yusuf on repositioning security, considering the huge delegations and cultural troupes attending the festival.

He noted that a media tour would be organised to unveil the refreshing transformation of the sports city by Mr Sanwo-Olu.

According to him, during this tour, the stadium’s capacity to provide revenue-yielding opportunities for outdoor events on sports, culture and tourism would also be unveiled.

He said Sunday Dare, the Minister of Sports, and a journalist might headline the media tour.
