Apple overtakes Nvidia briefly to become world’s most valuable company

American technology company Apple briefly became the most valuable company in the world on Friday after surpassing chipmaker Nvidia for the first time in more than one year.
According to Fox Business, in the early hours of Friday, the market capitalisation of Apple quickly increased $4.91 trillion compared to Nvidia’s $4.9 trillion at the time, which experts attributed to investors’ confidence that the iPhone maker can still make an artificial intelligence comeback.
However, Nvidia reclaimed its title as the most valuable company globally after it closed the day with a market capitalisation of $4.92 trillion, while that of Apple stood at $4.89 trillion.
Nevertheless, the result of Friday’s trading showed that Apple shares grew by 0.14 per cent while Nvidia’s dropped by 2.21 per cent.
“Apple was seen as a laggard in the AI race because it wasn’t spending to develop models, but now sentiment has changed,” Toni Meadows, head of investment at BRI Wealth Management, said regarding the development.
He added, “Apple is less exposed to capex intensity and better positioned to monetize AI via services, ecosystem lock-in, and hardware upgrades. The re-rating reflects confidence in earnings durability rather than speculative AI upside.”
Apple’s leap on Friday briefly made it the first time that the hardware and software manufacturer had the biggest capitalisation’s title for the first time since April 2025.
