Burial plans announced for late rights activist Ariyo-Dare Atoye
Civil rights campaigner, Ariyo-Dare Atoye, who died on Thursday after a protracted battle with lung cancer, will be buried on November 7.
This is according to a schedule put out by his associate Deji Adeyanju on Sunday via twitter.
A service of songs was scheduled to be held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Garki, Abuja on Friday, November 4.
In the evening of November 5, there would be a tribute in honour of Mr Atoye, a trained news reporter who spent years covering national affairs for the News Agency of Nigeria before establishing in the civil society as a rights activist.
The corpse would be transported from Abuja to Ekiti, his hometown on Sunday, November 6 in preparation for the interment. Mr Atoye’s burial would be held on Monday, November 7.
Since the news of his death was publicised, tributes have continued to pour in from many notable Nigerians, including the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar who described Mr Atoye as a patriot and an activist filled with energy and passion.
