Many filling stations in Lagos are now selling Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) at N310 per litre, well above regulated pump price as scarcity bites harder.

Checks by Peoples Gazette on Friday revealed that fuel stations across Lagos are now selling at the rate of N310 per litre.

Amuf filling station in Ojodu axis of Lagos State sold at the rate of 310 per litre on Friday morning. Nationwide, Eterna and RainOil also sold at the same rate

Further checks at At Ojodu Abiodun axis of Ogun State showed that Amuf filling station and MRS were also selling at the rate of N310 per litre.

However, only BOVAS filling station and NNPC were selling at the rate of N185 per litre at the time The Gazette conducted the checks.

The hike shows a significant increase in pump price from the government-approved N169 per litre price.

Peoples Gazette had last week reported that the President Muhammadu Buhari regime quietly approved N185 as the new official petrol pump price per litre.

However, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, said that the president had not authorised any increase in the pump price of fuel.

Despite the FG’s rebuttal, Nigerians have continued to pay exorbitant prices for fuel to power their generators and cars at a time when the state is experiencing a shortage of electricity supply.
