IHF Tourney: Nigeria beat hosts Ghana 49-29 to continue impressive run

Nigeria’s U-18 Women’s handball national team on Thursday walloped host nation Ghana 49-29 to assert their dominance in the ongoing IHF Women Trophy Africa Zone 3 tournament.
It was the second consecutive win for the Nigerians who pummelled fellow West African Liberia 61-16 in their opening match on Tuesday.
Goalkeeper Kehinde Babatunde and her co goalkeepers made crucial saves on multiple occasions to deny Ghana’s two-time MVP player Balchisu Salifu from finding the net but the performance could not earn any of them the MVP of the match.
It was Esther Matthew who took home the MVP honour after scoring several nine metres goals mostly from the wings to power Coach Shittu Agboola Adewunmi and his team to a comfortable victory despite the huge supports received by their archrivals from the home fans.
Nigeria will play Ivory Coast on Friday 3pm(WAT) in their next game of the tournament which began on Tuesday and is expected to end on Saturday 15 will serve as the regional qualifier for Women’s IHF Trophy Africa Continental scheduled to hold later in the year.
