Ogun govt. wants youths to explore opportunities in fish farming

The Ogun Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Kikelomo Longe, has advised youths to explore the opportunities that abound in fish farming to become gainfully employed.
Ms Longe said this at the opening of a three-week training in the fish farming business in Abeokuta on Monday.
According to Ms Longe, exploring the potential of fish farming will provide a veritable platform for youths to become self-employed, especially with the prevailing unemployment situation in the country.
The commissioner, represented by the Director, Industrial Promotion in the Ministry, Kehinde Akintomide, said going into fish farming could also help youths to contribute to the state’s industrial development.
She said this could be made possible by providing relevant products in the fish value chain, useful for industries operating in the state.
Ms Longe further said the training would contribute to helping unemployed youths become entrepreneurs.
Declaring the training open, the Centre Manager, the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC), Ifelayo Adejoro, charged the participants to utilise the opportunities provided by the training to improve themselves.
In an address, Amile Terlumun, the technical advisor, Employment Promotion, Skills Development for Youth Employment at the German Agency for International Cooperation, said the training was organised to help the unemployed youth become gainfully employed.
He said that the agency had worked toward providing the right ambience for a successful training and empowerment programme.
