Man declared wanted in Lagos for killing girlfriend arrested in Sierra Leone

The Lagos State police command has confirmed the arrest of one Benjamin Nnanyereugo, for allegedly killing his 21-year-old girlfriend, Augusta Osedion, in Lagos.
Disclosing this to The Punch, the police spokesperson in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the suspect was arrested in Sierra Leone by the country’s police operatives and reparations are ongoing to extradite him to Nigeria.
Mr Hundeyin said, “He was arrested by the Sierra Leonean Police Force, and we are working on extraditing him to Nigeria.”
Recall that the police had in a statement on Tuesday, said the suspect committed the crime in his home at Oral Estate, Ajah on July 13, 2023.
The statement read, “Following the exhaustion of all available options to bring him in, he is declared wanted,” the police spokesperson had said.
“The suspect is 26 years old, approximately 5’9 ft tall and hails from Abia State. He is dark in complexion and speaks English, Igbo and pidgin English fluently.
“If seen, please contact the nearest police station or call 0803 688 5727,” the statement added.
