Governor Caleb Mutfwang has restated his administration’s commitment to the renewed pursuit of peace and security in Plateau.

Mr Mutfwang expressed this in a statement issued by his spokesman, Gyang Bere, on Sunday.

The governor said the ongoing recruitment of citizens from the 17 LGAs would provide early warning signals for conventional security outfits to act on.

“The ongoing selection of competent and trustworthy youths from the 17 local government areas for training is solely focused on providing early warning signals for prompt interventions by conventional security agencies,” the governor said.

Mr Mutfwang added, “I want to categorically state here that this administration is committed to reinforcing the established state security outfit, known as ‘Operation Rainbow’.”

While reiterating his administration’s commitment to upholding peace and security in the state, Mr Mutfwang tasked citizens with collective responsibility to ensure peace and harmony in Plateau.

He said, “The ‘Operation Rainbow’ is being conducted in collaboration with federal security agencies and is aimed at enhancing the protection of rural communities across Plateau state.

“Initially, the training prioritised areas facing significant security challenges in the state, but it will be extended to other council areas without delay.”

The governor reassured Plateau residents that his administration “is committed to upholding the constitutional principles of safeguarding lives and property of citizens in the state, and also of my unwavering dedication to fostering a united and inclusive Plateau.”

He called on peace-loving citizens of the state to maintain calmness and extend support to the government’s initiatives.

“While we encourage a harmonious working environment for individuals, regardless of their ethnic or religious background, we want to emphasise the need for collective responsibility towards promoting lawful businesses and the well-being of all,” the governor stated.
