The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Kanayo Uzuegbu, has said this year unrepentant criminals will be ruthlessly dealt with in the state.

This is contained in a New Year and Thank You Message released by the commissioner through the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, on Tuesday in Enugu.

The commissioner urged criminals in the state to use the opportunity of the New Year, coupled with God’s gift of life, to rethink and repent of their criminal ways.

According to him, the command, in its quest to be more forward-looking in its policing approaches this New Year will adopt tougher crime prevention measures and ensure that unrepentant criminals are ruthlessly dealt with.

“The command appreciates the government and citizens of Enugu State for the support given to the police in the fight against crimes and criminality in the year 2023.

“The remarkable policing feats attained by the command would not have been possible without the unalloyed support given to it by the government, under the leadership of Governor Peter Mbah, security stakeholders and the law-abiding citizens of Enugu State.

“I, therefore, thank and wish all and sundry a more peaceful and prosperous New Year, 2024,” he said.

The commissioner assured the residents that the command would build on the policing successes it recorded in the state.

“In doing this, the command shall adopt a more proactive and innovative policing approach that will bring about a safer, more secure and more peaceful Enugu State,” he added.
