Two Lagosians convicted for stealing bananas

On Monday, the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court ordered the remand of two men, Sunday Adebayo, 31, and Kopo Sogbo, 41, for pleading guilty to stealing bunches of plantain and banana valued at N10,000.
Chief Magistrate N. A. Layeni remanded them at Awhajigoh Prison custody, Badagry.
The chief magistrate adjourned the case until January 24 for facts and sentencing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on January 6 at about 8.00 a.m. at Train Estate, Ilogbo Eremi area of Lagos.
Okuoimose said that the defendants conspired together to commit a felony to wit stealing.
The prosecutor said the defendant stole bunches of plantain and banana valued at N10,000 belonging to the complainant, identified as Alhaja Bilikisu.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened sections 411 and 287, the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
