The police command in Lagos State, on Wednesday, paraded 37 persons allegedly involved in cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, unlawful possession of firearms and other crimes.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Adegoke Fayoade, who paraded the suspects and exhibits recovered from them, said that they were arrested after he assumed duty about a month ago.

He said that a total of 16 firearms, including 72 live cartridges, 75 live ammunition and one expended cartridge, were recovered from the suspects.

Other items recovered, according to him, are one pistol magazine, a toy pistol, six axes, four daggers, five cutlasses, two vehicles, one Point of Sale (POS) machine, fake vehicle number plates and charms.

Mr Fayoade said that the paraded persons included three suspected leaders of a notorious cult group terrorising residents of Ikorodu and three members of an armed robbery gang wearing military camouflage.

He said that the fake soldiers were arrested by the 9th Brigade of the Nigerian Army and handed over to the police.

The police boss said that 1,050 commercial motorcycles were also seized for contravening traffic rules and regulations.

He said that the motorcycles would be crushed soon.

He said that, to avoid explosions, some areas suspected to house explosives would be raided soon.

Mr Fayoade advised residents of Lagos State to avoid talking about their business transactions involving money in public, as it could attract criminals.

He also advised the residents to minimise going out with their automated teller machine cards.

On autopsy on singer Ilerioluwa Aloba (a.k.a Mohbad), the commissioner of police said that the toxicology test was carried out in the U.S.

He said that the police were waiting for the report.

He gave the assurance that the report would be made public.
