Court remands man for allegedly raping neighbour

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a 24- year-old man, Ebuka Ibe, in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly raping his neighbour.
The Magistrate, F. D Hughes, did not take Ibe’s plea for want in jurisdiction.
She adjourned the case until April 17 for legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
Ibe, who resides in 16, Eyitayo St., Ajao Estate, Lagos, is charged with rape.
The prosecutor, Inspector Samuel Mishozunnu, told the court that the offence was committed on February 18 at the defendant’s residence.
The prosecutor said that Ibe raped his neighbour, a 20- year-old woman while she was asleep.
The prosecutor said that Ibe crawled into to the victim’s bed at night and raped her.
Mishozunnu said that the victim’s neighbours called for help.
The offences, the prosecutor said, contravened the provisions of Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
