Easter: Ogun police assure residents of adequate security

The police command in Ogun State has assured residents of adequate security and effective police patrol during the Easter celebration.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, gave the assurance during an interview in Abeokuta on Saturday.
Ms Odutola urged the people not to panic and enjoy the Easter celebration in moderation, saying that there would be police presence at all places to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
“Wherever you find yourself, rest assured that there is visibility police in all places. Also, we have continued to maintain our usual routine patrol. So, whether there is Easter or not, if you want to move from one place to another I assure you that you have no reason to panic,” she said.
The PPRO, however, warned residents against night activities, especially church vigils in remote areas.
“We need to rethink and re-orientate our pastors and religious worshippers. We should try as much as possible to be alert.
“We do not want them to engage in vigils just to ensure that nobody comes to harass or kidnap them. We have recorded cases of worshipers being kidnapped during vigils at remote areas,” she said.
