The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency has emerged as Nigeria’s best-performing state in the Basic Health Care Provision Fund enrolment for the first quarter of 2026.

This was announced in a statement on Tuesday in Kano by the agency’s spokesman, Aminu Ahmad-Turaki.

“The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), BHCPF Gateway Q1 2026 Enrolment Report showed that Kano recorded 327,410 enrolled beneficiaries, surpassing its target of 216,775 to rank first among all states,” the statement said.

The agency attributed the achievement to the Kano government’s commitment to expanding access to affordable, high-quality healthcare, especially for vulnerable and underserved residents.

It credited the executive secretary of KSCHMA, Rahila Aliyu-Mukhtar, for driving reforms, community mobilisation, stakeholder engagement, and the expansion of health insurance coverage across the state.

“The performance reflects the agency’s people-centred policies, strategic partnerships, and data-driven implementation, which have strengthened financing and advanced universal healthcare coverage in Kano state,” the statement said.

The agency expressed appreciation to NHIA, the Federal Ministry of Health, healthcare providers, development partners, traditional and religious leaders, community-based organisations, and other stakeholders for their support.

It further reaffirmed its commitment to increasing enrolment, improving healthcare service delivery, and ensuring equitable access to affordable, high-quality healthcare for all state residents.
