2024 NFL Draft: Cleveland Browns makes history as reality star Ozo Chukwu announces first-ever draft from Nigeria

American Football franchise, Cleveland Browns, has become the first-ever National Football League (NFL) team to make their first-ever NFL draft from Nigeria during the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit, United States.
Former Big Brother Naija star and sports personality, Ozo Chukwu, made the announcement for the Browns live from Lagos with the franchise selecting wide receiver Jamari Thrash as the draft’s 156th pick.
“With the NFL global market designation awarded to our great country Nigeria, the Browns has become the first and the only team in Nigeria and you know say for Naija, we no dey carry last,” Ozo said while announcing the pick.
He continued, “that being said, with the 156th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns Jamari Thrash, wide receiver from Louisville.”
The 2024 NFL Draft began in Detroit, Michigan on Thursday April 25 and will run into Saturday April 27 where the 32 NFL teams will share 257 players among themselves in seven rounds ahead of the upcoming season.
The players are mostly selected from American colleges where they had played for their respective institutions as collegiate athletes while others from international pathways.
As per American outlet ESPN, the 2024 NFL Draft has broken the all-time draft attendance record as 700,000 and counting fans have attended across a three-day span in the ongoing event in Detroit.
