Over 400 people hospitalised in Vietnam over suspected food poisoning
Four hundred eighty-seven people were admitted to a hospital in Vietnam’s southern province of Dong Nai after eating bread sold by a local eatery, local media reported on Friday.
According to the media, 19 cases had recovered and returned home.
Meanwhile, two cases are in critical condition while others are recovering with less severe symptoms of suspected food poisoning.
Vietnam’s food safety department under the health ministry has ordered an investigation into the case.
On April 30, the Vietnamese bread eatery Bang, on Tran Quang Dieu Street in Long Khanh, sold 1,100 loaves of bread.
The next day, many of its customers developed food poisoning symptoms of vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, or abdominal pain, the report said.
The eatery’s operation had been suspended for investigation.
