Bandits kill eight, raze church, houses in Kaduna

Armed bandits have yet again struck another community in Kaduna, killed 8 residents, and set buildings alight.
A church building belonging to Assemblies of God Church was razed by the marauding gunmen during the attack.
The deadly attack was carried out by the brigands at Ungwan Gaida community near Kurmin Kaso in Chikun Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs made the disclosure in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Mr Aruwan disclosed that three bandits met their Waterloo as troops repelled an attack by the armed thieves in another neighbouring community.
“In another development, Nigerian Navy troops stationed in the Kujama general area neutralised three bandits and arrested two accomplices after repelling an attack on Wakwodna community, near Kasso village, Chikun local government area.” the commissioner stated.
The statement disclosed that two locals sustained gunshot wound during an exchange of fire that ensued.
“The bandits fled into surrounding bushes on sighting the troops, and abandoned some rustled cattle, which were rounded up and returned to their rightful owners.”
“The troops engaged the bandits just before Kaso village, and in the gunfight, three bandits were neutralised.” Mr Aruwan said.
“Two locals who were injured in the exchange, were evacuated for medical attention.” he added.
However, the statement further disclosed that suspected bandits informant, Kapido Halilu and logistic supplier, Umar Maipashi were arrested during the operation.
“The suspects were taken into custody for further investigation.” the statement noted.
It was gathered that troops confiscated food and medical supplies meant for the brigands.
The statement revealed that the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai expressed sadness over the recent attack as he condoled with the families of the slain residents.
“The Governor further condemned the attack on the place of worship, and directed the State Emergency Management Agency to carry out an urgent assessment of the damage in the area for intervention.” the governor said.
Bandits have continued to unleash mayhem on residents living across communities in Kaduna senatorial districts that has led to the deaths of many civilians.
The activities of the brigands is gaining momentum as the armed thieves continue to carry out deadly attacks in a brazen fashion.
