Edo 2024: Group rallies support for Ighodalo

The Esan4OsadebeHouse2024Team has called all Esan sons and daughters to vote for Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming Edo governorship election.
The Edo governorship election comes up on Sept. 21.
The group’s call was conveyed in a communiqué signed by its coordinator, Patrick Okpebholo, at the end of its emergency meeting and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Benin.
Mr Okpebholo said there was need for the Esan people to act as one united family to avoid the possibility of splitting their votes.
He said that Esan was at a critical juncture in its history as the opportunity to produce the next governor of the state in the person of Ighodalo had been presented to them.
Mr Okpebholo said that if the Esan people allowed themselves to be led by emotions rather than reason, it could become counterproductive for their aspirations.
“We, the Esan people, stand at a critical juncture in our history.
”The upcoming Edo governorship election presents a rare opportunity for our community to produce a candidate, Ighodalo, who has consistently demonstrated respect, commitment and dedication to our welfare.
“However, we face a danger that threatens to undermine our progress: division and splitting of votes.
“If we allow emotions to dictate our actions and fragment our support, we risk inadvertently contributing to the victory of opposing forces.
“The consequences of such an outcome would be dire; it may take another two decades for Esan to have a similar opportunity to produce a gubernatorial candidate; we cannot afford to squander this chance.
“Therefore, we urge all Esan people to unite behind Ighodalo, our chosen candidate.’’
According to him, there is need to pool resources, energies and votes to ensure Mr Ighodalo’s victory.
“This is our moment and we must seize it,’’ he said.
