NHRC deploys monitoring units to #EndSARS protests

The National Human Rights Commission has directed its staff nationwide to monitor the #EndSARS protests and document reports of any human rights violations by security agents or thugs.
The monitoring duties will commence today, the rights office said in a tweet Sunday night.
The officials are to send a weekly report of the monitory exercise every Sunday evening, NHRC said.
The EndSARS protests continue in many parts of Nigeria despite the government banned of SARS, the police unit blamed for decades of rights abuses and extra-judicial fatalities. Protesters are now demanding compensation for victims and a new set of safeguards against future police high-handedness.
