Insecurity: Youths block Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, many travellers stranded

Some protesting youths on Saturday blocked the Kaduna-Abuja highway over incessant attacks and killings by suspected bandits in Kaduna State.
Peoples Gazette learnt the angry youths on Saturday morning decided to block the Kaduna-Abuja expressway over killings and abduction of an unspecified number of people.
Hundreds of travelers were also stranded following the action of the protesters.
TheCable reported that four people were killed, and 49 others were abducted in Angwan Madaki, Kakau community, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna.
The news outlet also stated that the latest attack took place late Friday at about 10:00 p.m. The community was invaded, which led to the death of two persons, and 20 residents including chiefs and his wife were kidnapped.
Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani, earlier alerted Nigerians on Twitter on the development.
Mr Sani tweeted, “Youths blocking Kaduna Abuja road this morning in protests against incessant kidnappings. Hundreds stranded. It’s tragic and unfortunate.”
Despite being appeased by security personnel, The Gazette learnt protesters refused to vacate the road.
Kaduna police spokesman, Mohammed Jalige told The Gazette on telephone that although protesters blocked the Kaduna-Abuja expressway, the road has now been cleared with the help of joint security forces.
Mr Jalige said, “Yes, the road was blocked for some hours but with the intervention of other security personnel, and the CP who was represented by the area commander, the road is clear now,” adding that “it is now free for motorists.”
