Ikorodu LG chair’s wife urges youth to shun hooliganism, drug abuse

The wife of Ikorodu Local Government Chairman, Abolanle Adesina, on Thursday advised youths to shun hooliganism and drug abuse.
Mrs Adesina said in Lagos that such behaviours could ruin the youth.
She spoke during the 2024 Children’s Christmas Party of the council.
The event was held at the council’s secretariat in Ikorodu.
“This is the ninth edition. I am very happy, as Christmas is known as a season of love. I urge the youth to face their studies, shun hooliganism and say no to drug abuse,” she said.
Mrs Adesina urged Ikorodu residents to support the council for more infrastructure and economic development and the delivery of more dividends of democracy.
Earlier, the chairman of the council, Wasiu Adesina, charged the residents to imbibe the spirit of Christmas by showing love.
He advised motorists to avoid drinking while driving.
He promised to inaugurate more than 20 roads, complete ongoing projects and lay the foundation of a cultural and entertainment centre before the end of his administration.
He said that the council organised the annual Christmas party to show love for children in line with Biblical teachings.
He stated, “As we are reaching out to children, we are doing the same to adults. My administration will also complete the building of the legislative block and hand it over to the incoming administration.’’
In her remarks, the Vice Chairman of the council, Folashade Olabanji-Oba, urged the residents to show love to one another.
Adedeji Owolabi, in charge of education in the council, expressed gratitude to the wife of the chairman for her passion for children and commitment to promoting education.
One of the participants, Olukorede Owolabi, praised the wife of the chairman for her kindness and consistency in celebrating children.
