The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria says it is creating a comprehensive calendar for the tourism industry.

The national president of FTAN, Nkereuwem Onung, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Lagos.

Mr Onung said the calendar would help streamline access to the various events organised in 2025 by government agencies and the private sector.

“A well-structured tourism event calendar is a crucial tool for the development and promotion of Nigeria’s tourism sector.

“It serves as a guide for both local and international tourists, helping them plan their visits around key events and festivals,” he said.

Giving more reasons for creating the calendar is important, Mr Onung said it would serve as an effective marketing and promotion tool and improve tourism infrastructure.

He said it would also help facilitate better coordination among stakeholders, including government agencies, tour operators, hospitality businesses and event organisers.

“It will encourage repeat visits because when tourists have a positive experience at an event, they will likely return for future editions or explore other events listed in the tourism calendar.

“This helps build a loyal tourist base for Nigeria,” he said.

Mr Onung urged stakeholders to provide FTAN with details of their upcoming events to ensure they are added to the calendar.
