The Ogun State Security Network, aka Amotekun, said it arrested an alleged drug dealer, Emmanuel Obi.

Amotekun said this in a statement on Friday.

According to the statement, Mr Obi was apprehended in the busy market area of Ayetoro in the Yewa North LGA.

It said the suspect was arrested following credible intelligence received by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency that Mr Obi was orchestrating drug deals in the region.

Mr Obi had allegedly enlisted the help of a commercial driver called Alausa, who is currently in NDLEA custody.

“Alausa had been tasked with transporting a substantial quantity of suspected hard drugs from Abeokuta to Ayetoro, with an estimated value running into millions of naira,” said the statement. “On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, the NDLEA in the state intercepted an 18-seater Mazda bus, along the Abeokuta/Ayetoro road. During interrogation of the driver, it was revealed that Obi was the owner of the seized items.”

It added, “The information received led to the swift action of Amotekun operatives after intelligence was equally received from the State NDLEA, which led to the arrest of Obi.

“As investigations progress, authorities have called on the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities that could threaten the well-being of the community.”

Amotekun also mentioned that Mr Obi had been transferred to the Ogun command of NDLEA for further investigations and prosecution.
