Four arraigned over alleged theft of 19 person’s phones, power banks

The magistrate adjourned the case until August 4 for hearing.

Four persons: Ikenna Peters, 33, Opeyemi Oni, 25, Thomas Raphael, 43 and Godspower Ochiko, 27 were on Wednesday arraigned in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly stealing phones and power banks.

The four whose addresses were not provided were charged with 22 count-charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen phones.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Adeshina Folaranmi told the court that the defendants committed the offences in March at Bon Hotel, Bodija, Ibadan.

Folaranmi alleged that Peter stole phones, power banks and chargers worth millions and belonging to 19 people.

He said the 19 people include Roseline Ali, Titilayo Mansay, Ayomide Oladele, Elizabeth Joseph, Glory Samuel, among others.

He alleged that Oni, Raphael and Ochiko received the stolen items from Peter, knowing they were stolen.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 516, 390(9) and 427 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Oluwabusayo Osho granted Peter bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

She also granted Oni, Raphael and Ochiko bails in the sum of N500, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

She adjourned the case until August 4 for hearing.
