Fan dies after falling from stands during Nations League final

UEFA has confirmed the death of a fan during Sunday’s Nations League final in Munich.
The fan reportedly fell from the middle tier of the Allianz Arena into the press area below during the first half of extra time.
Emergency services, including paramedics and police, responded swiftly, but despite their efforts, the fan could not be saved.
“There was a medical emergency at the Munich arena, and despite the best efforts of the medical team, the person sadly passed away at 00:06 (CET),” stated a statement by UEFA. “Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this difficult time.”
Both teams expressed their condolences after the game, which Portugal won 5–3 on penalties following a 2–2 draw after 120 minutes of play.
After the match, Spain’s coach, Luis de la Fuente, expressed his condolences in a press conference:
Portugal also issued a statement acknowledging the death, with a team representative saying the death “casts a shadow on our victory today”.
Coach Roberto Martinez called the news “extremely sad”.
According to reports, the fan fell approximately eight metres. The exact cause or circumstances behind the fall remain unclear.
