Authorities in Uganda have launched an urgent investigation into the mysterious death of a Kyambogo University student identified as Precious Musimenta on the university campus on Monday. 

The Dean of Students Dr Agnes Nakimuli Mugalu confirmed the incident in a letter addressed to the university’s Vice-Chancellor Eli Katunguka, stating that Ms Musimenta was found dead inside an hostel. 

Ms Mugalu also noted the body of the deceased, who was studying Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance until her demise, was taken to the City Mortuary for postmortem examination to determine the cause of her death.

“The late was found dead in her room at Sports Pro-Hostel in Banda today, Monday 28th September 2026. The body has been taken to City Mortuary for further investigations,” the letter said.

The circumstances surrounding the death of Ms Musimenta remains unclear but the university management assured that a post mortem report on the cause of her death would be provided.

News outlet NilePost reported that authorities, including law enforcement officials, had launched an investigation into the case. 

The university management, however, stated that its Student Welfare Department was engaging with the family of Ms Musimenta regarding her burial arrangements. 

Meanwhile, some netizens took to social media to mourn the passing of Ms Musimenta, including Instagram user @lubega976, who stated “Oh, RIP, GG. May God strengthen her parents. You struggle and pray for your child to succeed, and then suddenly, death.”

@coldfire.8 commented “This journey is not easy. Parents check on your children, we are suffering at campus more than we can tell,” while @joseph_kype prayed for her soul to “rest in eternal peace.”
