Benue Massacre: SGF Akume draws Holocaust parallel in Yelewata attack
George Akume, the secretary to the government of the federation, has declared that no individual or group will be able to eliminate any tribe on earth.
“Attacks which wore the clothes of ethnic cleansing are unjustified and unacceptable,” Mr Akume stated. “No individual or group would be able to eliminate a whole tribe on earth because God Almighty will not allow it.”
Mr Akume stated this on Tuesday during the flag-off of the federal government’s distribution of relief materials to survivors of the Yelewata attack at the emergency camp in Makurdi.
The politician who visited the scene of the attack and the wounded at the hospital drew a parallel with the over six million Jews massacred by Nazi Germany during the Holocaust.
“But today, they have tripled the figure,” said the SGF.
He, however, appealed to the Benue people, especially the people of Yelewata, to continue to pursue the path of peace no matter the amount of provocation.
The former Benue governor further said President Bola Tinubu was committed to preserving the unity and sovereignty of the nation.
He said the President would stop at nothing to ensure that all Nigerians sleep with their eyes closed.
Mr Akume conveyed his condolences to the people and urged them not to lose hope in life and the government.
