A trader, Iliya Sanni, 51, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly stealing 30 tons of corn and bags of rice.

Sanni, of no fixed address was charged with one count of stealing, which he pleaded not guilty to.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Akeem Akinloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in September 2024 at Agro Farms Lagun, Ibadan.

Mr Akinloye alleged that the defendant collected 30 tons of corn worth N21 million and 15 bags of rice worth N1.2 million from another retired trader, Kofoworade Odunola.

He said the defendant, rather than paying the complainant (Odunola) the money, made away with it in 2024.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Olabisi Ogunkanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N10 million with two reliable sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until October 2 for hearing.
