Drone strikes kill, injure civilians in Russia, Ukraine

At least one person was killed and ten others injured in a Russian drone attack on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro and surrounding areas, local authorities reported on Thursday.
Several fires broke out in Dnipro following the overnight strike, according to Serhiy Lysak, the military governor of the southeastern Ukrainian region. He confirmed five injuries in the city of Nikopol as well.
Of the 10 people injured across the region, eight remain hospitalised while two are being treated as outpatients, Mr Lysak stated on Telegram.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched 64 drones overnight, fewer than in recent days.
Thirty-six of those were intercepted. The air force confirmed 23 drone impacts across five locations but did not disclose further details.
It added that five drones were decoys carrying no explosives.
Meanwhile, inside Russia, state news agency TASS reported the death of a woman and injuries to at least three others during overnight Ukrainian drone strikes.
Russia’s Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted 122 Ukrainian drones, particularly in the Moscow and Bryansk regions. In the western city of Voronezh, three minors were injured when debris from a downed drone hit a residential building, Governor Aleksandr Gusev said. At least four apartments were damaged.
Additional drone-related damage and two injuries were reported in the Kaluga and Smolensk regions. In Moscow, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said three drones headed for the capital were intercepted overnight.
In the Belgorod region near the Ukrainian border, a woman was killed when a Ukrainian drone dropped an explosive on a single-family home, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov told TASS.
Ukraine has increased long-range drone strikes inside Russian territory as part of its broader defence strategy.
However, the scale of destruction from Ukrainian attacks remains limited compared to the widespread damage inflicted by Russian forces in Ukraine over more than three years of war.
