The Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, has commended officers and soldiers of 130 Battalion and 341 Artillery Regiment, Ogoja, Cross River.

Mr Oluyede, on Tuesday, praised their resilience and commitment to national security during an operational visit to Godwin Ally Barracks, Ogoja, under the 82 Division’s Area of Responsibility, said a statement on Tuesday.

The army chief noted that the troops had consistently displayed courage and sacrifice in defending the country despite operational challenges.

During the visit, Mr Oluyede inspected facilities, interacted with soldiers, and assured them of improved welfare and working conditions to boost their efficiency. He ordered the immediate renovation of dilapidated accommodation within the barracks to enhance the living conditions of troops and their families.

Mr Oluyede also stressed his passion for education, noting that the Nigerian Army was revamping schools in barracks to ensure quality learning for soldiers’ children and wards. He highlighted that the recent increase in Ration Cash Allowance had enabled commanders to provide improved feeding for soldiers.

Mr Oluyede urged the personnel to reciprocate this gesture with greater dedication to their duties.

The army chief further disclosed that efforts were ongoing to provide new uniforms and essential kits for all personnel. He explained that these initiatives were part of deliberate measures to boost morale, standardise readiness, and entrench his “Soldiers First” policy.

Mr Oluyede charged troops to remain disciplined and professional, and to strengthen synergy with sister agencies and communities to ensure peace and stability in the region.
