NRC resumes Abuja-Kaduna train service

The Nigerian Railway Corporation has designated every Wednesday for maintenance of the Abuja–Kaduna train service.

The NRC also announced that passenger services on the corridor will resume starting Wednesday, October 1. This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday.

It stated that commercial operations would resume after the completion of all safety, technical, and operational checks.

According to the statement, the step shows NRC’s commitment to ensuring smooth, reliable, and secure train services for all passengers, giving them confidence in their journeys.

The statement noted that after the August 26 incident, 530 out of 583 passengers on board were contacted by phone, with 512 receiving refunds. 

It added that all 22 injured passengers had been reached, with many visited by the NRC’s medical team, and would enjoy one free ride per week until December 31.

“All 618 people on board during the August 26 accident will be entitled to one free ride before December 31,” NRC said.

The AKTS timetable includes Abuja–Kaduna, with stops at IDU (8:45 a.m.), Kubwa (9:05 a.m.), and Rigassa (12:42 p.m.) (arrival).

The Kaduna–Abuja schedule is as Follows: Rigassa, 2:30 p.m.; Kubwa, 6:02 p.m.; IDU, 6:23 p.m. (arrival).

NRC thanked passengers for their patience, reaffirming NRC’s dedication to safe, reliable, affordable, and customer-friendly services nationwide.
