Thirteen suspected criminals nabbed in Ondo

The police command in Ondo has arrested no fewer than 13 suspects for various offences and recovered items totalling N3.67 million in recent operations across the state.
Police commissioner Adebowale Lawal announced this while speaking with journalists on Saturday in Akure.
The police chief explained that the suspects were arrested for their involvement in cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, fraud, burglary, stealing, and receiving stolen livestock.
“Exhibits recovered include one pump action gun, two locally-made pistols, expended cartridges, mobile phones, one Elepaq generator valued at N240,000, and a roll of energiser wire valued at N280,000.
“Others are assorted home electrical wires valued at N1.55 million and destroyed POP ceiling materials, valued at N1.6 million, one toy gun and charms, and seven live goats,” he said.
Mr Lawal said that the success recorded was part of the command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime, protecting lives and properties, and reinforcing public confidence in policing.
According to him, the command will remain steadfast in its resolve to rid the state of criminal elements.
“The command will ensure the continued safety of all residents through strategic intelligence gathering, community collaboration, and robust patrol operations,” he said.
He, therefore, appreciated the cooperation of the people, the dedication of officers and men, and the visionary leadership of the inspector general of police, whose strategic guidance continued to inspire operational excellence.
Mr Lawal reiterated the command’s commitment and assured all law-abiding citizens of sustained protection, improved service delivery, and a peaceful environment conducive to social and economic growth.
