The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and due process in conducting its 2025 asset disposal exercise.

ICPC spokesperson Demola Bakare disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja. He said the commission’s chairman, Musa Aliyu, made the commitment during Thursday’s official bid opening ceremony for auctioneers.

Mr Aliyu, represented by the Director of the Systems Study and Review Department, Olusegun Adigun, stressed that the entire process would be guided by integrity, transparency, and merit, essential to upholding the commission’s credibility.

He assured that all recovered assets would continue to be utilised for national development, emphasising that every kobo recovered on behalf of Nigerians would be properly managed and channelled transparently.

Mr Aliyu added that submissions from auctioneers would be evaluated strictly on merit, following established criteria without bias or favoritism, reflecting the commission’s commitment to fairness and accountability.

In her remarks, the director of the Proceeds of Crimes Department (POCD), Grace Aga-Ibe, emphasised Mr Aliyu’s position, affirming that the ICPC remained committed to ensuring integrity and fairness throughout the process.

The executive director of the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity, Umar Yakubu, commended the ICPC for conducting a credible, transparent exercise aligned with the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.

Auctioneers present at the event also lauded the commission for its professionalism and openness, noting that only candidates meeting stipulated requirements would progress to the next stage of the exercise.

Representatives from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) and the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) attended, reinforcing the transparency of the proceedings.

The ICPC publicised the outcomes of its 2024 Asset Disposal Exercise, demonstrating continuity in promoting accountability and proper management of recovered assets.
