The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa command, says it is committed to supporting the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in its fight against human trafficking in the state.

The state NSCDC spokesman, Badruddeen Tijjani, disclosed this in a statement in Dutse on Friday.

He stated that the state NSCDC commandant, Muhammad Kabiru-Ingawa, gave the assurance during his visit to the NAPTIP commander in the state, Abdulkadir Turajo, in Dutse.

Mr Tijjani said Mr Kabiru-Ingawa promised that the corps will continue with its unwavering commitment to deepening inter-agency collaboration with NAPTIP.

“The visit centred on strengthening operational cooperation in combating human trafficking, child labour, forced migration, sexual exploitation, and other forms of human rights violations across the state,” he said.

He said the commandant highlighted the urgent need for stronger synergy among security and law enforcement agencies.

“He described human trafficking as a multi-dimensional crime requiring coordinated intelligence, joint enforcement operations, and aggressive community awareness.

“The NSCDC remains fully committed to NAPTIP in necessary areas to curb human trafficking and protect vulnerable citizens.

“Also, strengthening the partnership is essential to prevent exploitation, promote human dignity, and develop safer communities,” Mr Tijjani said.

According to the statement, the NAPTIP commander thanked Mr Kabiru-Ingawa for the visit and commended the corps for its professionalism, consistent collaboration, and visible support in its previous operations.

“Turajo emphasised that the renewed partnership between the two agencies would significantly boost ongoing efforts to prevent trafficking, rescue victims, and prosecute offenders,” Mr Tijjani added.

He further stated that the meeting also explored strategies for enhanced intelligence sharing, community-based sensitisation, joint capacity-building programmes and coordinated enforcement actions to counter emerging trafficking patterns within the state.

“The visit also reinforces the dedication of NSCDC to protecting lives, defending human dignity, and working closely with sister agencies to build a safer and more secure society,” he added.
